The web sites www.organicapparelshop.com and www.vetementbiologique.com created and operated by Uniologica Inc. are the result of a personal and professional journey that started more than ten years ago.

Having a green mind-set since a young age, we started about twelve years ago to eat organic food and eliminate refined food and red meat from our diet. Early on we noticed significant health benefits; including more energy and improved general health, the discovery of subtle and refined tastes due to an awakening of our taste buds and an improvement in the health of our skin.

Francois started his professional career in the organic industry (cosmetics and aromatics) about ten years ago. Promptly, it became obvious to us that organic agriculture, which included more small-scale production methods that respect local ecosystems, was the only real path towards (sustainable) development. Since then we have taken part in the growth of the organic sector in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada.

Kendall received her BA and MSc in International Development while studying in Montreal, Havana, Amsterdam and Quito. Consequently, we had the opportunity to work in international development in both Latin America and Africa. The personal and professional experiences we gained through this work convinced us that it was vital to develop fair partnerships with producers in the developing world. We naturally came to the conclusion to launch a project that combines organic agriculture, fair trade and includes a component of international development. After carrying out some research, we decided to apply our values and join our experiences and skills to create a company specializing in organic and fair trade clothing from Canada and elsewhere.

We believe that Quebec, Canada and the rest of the world are ready to take the next step in the evolution of purchasing green products. Many of you have already integrated organic food into your diet and have decided to use organic body care products. The next logical step is to think about the clothing we wear daily. As many of you know, the contact between your skin and clothing is not neutral and it is common to react to clothes made from synthetic fibres. The decision to switch to clothes made with natural fibres, like cotton, is the first step in the right direction. The second step is to select a natural fibre that is certified organic. Lastly, it is now possible to connect the dots with organic clothing that respects each step of production, from the fibre to the finish garment, according to very strict environmental standards.
